ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Launched in 2025, the Tamar Valley Film Festival, is an independent film festival dedicated to supporting and showcasing the creativity and storytelling talent of Tasmania, with a focus on filmmakers in the North.

This festival provides a much-needed platform in Launceston for local film creatives to showcase their work. In 2025, we screened a range of films, including music videos and a vertical drama, and the event encouraged the local community to venture out and embrace the creative arts in Launceston during the traditionally quieter colder month of May.

In 2026, we decided to trial holding the festival both in person & online – enabling those that were unable to attend the Launceston event in person, to still be able to enjoy the film selection and vote for their favourite film over the festival weekend.

HOW TO WATCH ONLINE

Due to the nature of some films still participating in other festivals, and to assist with covering costs of running the in-person event, as well as this online festival page, there is a one-off subscription fee required. This fee has been kept as low as possible, and the subscription will enable access to watch all selected films during the festival weekend only.
